Hopi Kachina by Otto Pentewa, one of the best known Hopi carvers of kachinas (1886 – 1961), from Oraibi Village at Hopi in Arizona. This little kachina has wide horns on its headdress suggesting a Big Horn Sheep and associated with the Havasupai people, the neighbors of the Hopi who live at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. The doll has painted ceremonial details, and a great cluster of feathers tied on top of the headdress circa 1930s, 2 ½ inches tall.
