A warrior Guardian kachina, Payik’ala (Three Horned Kachina) protects the other Kachinas during the dances; he is a also a messenger to the divine spirit beings, bringing the prayers for rain from the Hopi people.

Made from cottonwood circa 1930 - 45, the kachina has three tapering horns on the top of the head, each painted blue, red and yellow, a fierce toothy snout, large red tab ears pierced with metal rings, and the remains of a feather collection on the back of the head, 12 inches tall.
