Hopi Kachina by Otto Pentewa, one of the best known Hopi carvers of kachinas (1886 – 1961). This little kachina has wide curved horns on its headdress painted with wavy lines, and white on red triangles on the bottom edge of the head, with a black and white banded bib on its chest, suggesting Wuyak -Kuita, or Broadfaced Kachina, one who keeps things in order for the kachinas on the ceremonial path. The doll has painted details, and a great cluster of feathers tied on top of the headdress; circa 1930s, 2 ½ inches tall.
