Girl with Three Little Sheep in Micaceous Clay

$250.00

A Girl with Three Little Sheep, by Dawning Pollen Shorty of Taos Pueblo, New Mexico, is a “story teller” figure comprised of a Pueblo woman in traditional dress (including a beaded heishi necklace) as she sits singing to the child she holds in her arms and to her little flock of 3 sheep; each of the figures is made of Taos micaceous clay, and paint, approx 6" x 3 1/4 " x 4 ½ inches. A native of Taos Pueblo, Dawning Pollen works in the traditional way by collecting raw materials from the land to make the clay, using natural pigments to paint it and cedar wood for traditional outdoor firing.
