The Hopi Patung Squash or Melon Kachina is a runner kachina—one who awakens the Earth in the Spring for the growing season to begin, and who puts Mother Earth to sleep in the Fall after Harvest time. A favorite among the children of the villages.

Made from carved and painted cottonwood, and mounted on a round cottonwood stand, signed on the bottom “S. Nez”, 7 ½ inches tall
