Juius Rolshoven (1858 - 1930), an American painter, studied painting and then worked in Europe, returning to the United States in 1916, settling in the Southwest, in Santa Fe (maintaining three residences, in Santa Fe, Detroit and Florence Italy). Rolshoven was an early member of the Taos Society of Artists.

Here is a sheet of toned paper with pastel work “Ranchos De Taos Mountain View” on one side and “Portrait of a White Robed Taos Pueblo Man” on the verso, a study for the painting “Sun Eagle Tail”, circa 1920s, 14 × 11 inches (19 × 15 inches framed).
